It was in 2021, a few months after the murder of Garifallia Psarrakou, a postgraduate student in the Department of Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), when the President of the Tsetis Group, Julia Tsetis, announced the establishment of a scholarship to be awarded by the Non-Profit organization KLEON TSETIS in memory of Garifallia, to students of the Department of Pharmacy of NKUA for research projects in the field of Pharmacology.
As part of the scholarship in memory of Garifallia Psarrakou, a pharmacist with a Master’s Degree in “Design and Development of New Pharmaceutical Compounds with a specialization in Pharmacology,” the Non-Profit organization KLEON TSETIS, during the academic years 2021–2022, 2022–2023, and 2023–2024, proceeded—among other forms of support—to financially assist three research projects in the field of Pharmacology from the Department of Pharmacy at NKUA, after receiving and evaluating the corresponding funding requests.
In the context of supporting these three projects, a total of six scholarships were awarded to postgraduate students of the Master’s Program “Design and Development of New Pharmaceutical Compounds with a specialization in Pharmacology” and to PhD candidates specializing in Pharmacology, which was also the academic field of the unjustly lost Garifallia Psarrakou. The projects were conducted under the supervision of the late Professor of Pharmacology, Ioanna Andreadou.
For 2025, the support of an additional project has been announced, along with the corresponding scholarship in the field of Pharmacology, which is currently underway in the Department of Pharmacy at NKUA.
The Non-Profit Organization KLEON TSETIS was founded in November 2017, in memory of the founder of the Tsetis Pharmaceutical Companies Group, pharmacist and researcher Kleon Tsetis, by his daughters Julia and Irene, with the mission to support and strengthen creative thinking, scientific research, and continuous progress.
To date, it has supported 47 outstanding students and researchers through scholarships and has supported 31 scientific and research programs with donations of consumable materials and permanent equipment.
With a vision to serve as a catalyst for linking science with entrepreneurship, the organization strengthens research and brings together researchers from all fields of health sciences, educational institutions, and industry, in order to transform knowledge into innovative solutions for society.
